Philippine fiesta preparationsThe calendar of Philippine festivities is an exciting collection of celebration and special events. Various celebrations and entertainment are offered every month on every towns and cities. And each activities are inspired with fluvial processions and grand street merry-makings and revelries. Fiestas are ties that bind Filipinos from a region to reunite and rejoice. Families, neighbors, relatives, friends are expected to attend even if they live from afar because Fiesta is a time to rejoice in friendship, spend and forget all the expense, just be happy, celebrate, have fun and enjoy.

Ati-Atihan
As a large Catholic country, most of the fiestas and festivals are centered on a patron saint. Festivals like the Ati-Atihan in Kalibo AKlan and Sinulog in Cebu, both held every January, are in honor of the miraculous Sto. NiƱo. It is an indication that traditions in the Philippines are deeply-rooted. There's the Feast of the Black Nazarene where millions of devotees from different parts of the country join the procession during the Quiapo fiesta. Devotees believe that by continuing with the yearly family vow or "panata" to the Black Nazarene, their families will find peace, prosperity, and good health.


Moriones
In the island of Marinduque, they celebrate the age-old ritual of "Moriones" during the lenten season, thus Marinduque is acknowledge as the "Lenten Capital of the Philippines". Come the seven days of the Holy Week, the people of the island wore colorful warrior costumes, topped with finely carved masks detailing the fierce Roman soldiers of Christ's time. All these are done to portray the story of the conversion of Longuinus, the centurion who stabbed Jesus' side.
Santacruzan
Flores De Mayo or Santacruzan is celebrated nationwide during May. It is a parde of the loveliest ladies in the town, interpreting the search and discovery of Jesus Christ's Cross by Queen Helena and Constantine.
